Los equipos creativos que hay detrás de dos pioneros del diseño, uno en red y el otro en edición impresa, pasaron a formar parte del grupo de los ya poseedores del D&AD Black Pencil. Fueron además los primeros en recibir tal premio dentro de las categorías Online y Magazine & Newspaper Design (Diseño de Revistas y Periódicos), y los únicos premiados con el D&AD Black Pencil en el 2006.

El periódico británico The Guardian y Leo Burnett Canada fueron galardonados con los más altos honores en la cena-ceremonia de la 44° edición de los Annual D&AD Global Awards celebrada en Londres. Esa misma noche se concedieron también 54 D&AD Yellow Pencils por aquellas obras que establecen nuevos puntos de referencia en la excelencia de la creatividad. El D&AD Global Awards rinde homenaje a los mejores trabajos en diseño, publicidad y comunicación creativa del mundo, y sus jueces son los creativos líderes a nivel mundial.

Leo Burnett London se llevó a casa la colección de Yellow Pencils más grande de toda la noche, con premios en las categorías de Viral, Direct and Digital Crafts, por “Cameraphone”, su campaña de concienciación pública dirigida a los jóvenes, para el Departamento de Transporte del Reino Unido. Los primeros Yellow Pencils en la categoría Gaming, fueron para Cake por “Nintendogs” y para Capcom por “Resident Evil 4”.

Otros premiados con dos Pencil fueron: Apple Computer en la categoría Product Design (Diseño de Producto), por su iPod (con vídeo) y su iPod Nano; BBH en las categorías de Television & Cinema Crafts (Artes Televisivas y Cinematográficas), por “Mayfly” para Vodafone, y Radio, por “Killer Katy” para ITV; y DDB London en la categoría Press Advertising (Publicidad en Prensa), por “Beans/Jigsaw/Cat/Toilet Paper” para Harvey Nichols.  “Tupperzick” para 3 Mobile ganó dos de los cinco D&AD Yellow Pencils otorgados a la categoría Television & Cinema Crafts (Artes Televisivas y Cinematográficas), y ‘Balls’ para Sony se llevó dos Yellow Pencils en la categoría Television & Cinema Advertising (Publicidad Televisiva y Cinematográfica).

HOST/The Glue Society (Integrated Advertising) y HOST/The Glue Society/NetX (Interactive Viral Advertising) fueron galardonados también con un Yellow Pencil respectivamente por sus trabajos para Virgin Mobile Australia, en los que aparece el actor australiano Jason Donovan como estrella principal.  ‘NoitulovE’ de Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO para Guinness tuvo tres nominaciones y ganó un Yellow Pencil en la categoría Television & Cinema Crafts (Artes Televisivas y Cinematográficas).
